Tech Works is proud to be involved in our community, and in helping those in need.
Hudson Townsend is a typical 13-year-old boy from Yorba Linda, California. Hudson was born with a rare disorder known as Congenital Femoral Deficiency, stunting his left leg at five inches shorter than his right.
Hudson is brave young man who has displayed strength and spirit well beyond his years. Despite having already undergone two unsuccessful surgeries to correct his condition, Hudson maintains high grades in school, is active with his peers, and is well known for his outgoing personality and positive attitude.
In November 2013, Hudson began a series of complicated surgeries at the famed Paley Advanced Limb Lengthening Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida. Dr. Dror Paley is internationally renowned for his innovative approach to limb lengthening. Each surgery is difficult, with a recovery and rehabilitation period of up to a year.
Hudson and his mom, Lisa have been bravely facing the struggles involved in these complex surgeries. Insurance and State funding cover some of the costs, but nowhere near enough. Lisa has had to give up her job in order to care for Hudson, and travel to and from Florida is far from cheap.
Tech Works reached out to our local community to drum up help and support for Hudson and Lisa, creating a website on their behalf and helping to sponsor fundraising events to help defray their soaring medical bills.
Hudson still has a long way to go, but we’re proud to report that the community of Yorba Linda has been wonderfully supportive. Every dollar donated is a dollar closer to their goals.
